Launching fans’ ultimate FIFA soundtrack
FIFA soundtracks have served as a formative backing track for millions of players worldwide since their introduction in the EA SPORTS FIFA 98 Road To The World Cup edition.
Each year, these songs reach beyond the game, often becoming the sound of broader football culture. With "That's a FIFA song" now a common phrase, and everyone has their favourite.
Around the launch of FIFA 23’s World Cup mode, EA SPORTS determined it was the right moment to unveil the Ultimate Soundtrack - a compilation of songs chosen by fans that included their all-time favourite hits from the game's soundtrack history.
We created two films for this launch. The first announced the Ultimate Soundtrack and encouraged people from all over the world to vote for their favourite songs by listening to them on Spotify. The job of the second was to build hype around the arrival of the final selection.
Based on the broadcasting of a top-floor pirate radio HQ, we knew Julia Adenuga and Yung Philly would have unmatched, infectious energy in delivering these messages.
Both spots were written to capture the taste of EA SPORTS FIFA nostalgia spanning the past 25 years and feature the game’s most iconic songs, such as Glass Animals’ Heat Waves, Sofi Tukker’s Best Friend, Muse’s Supermassive Black Hole, and Caesars’ Jerk It Out.
